To mark the launch of the publication of the same name, the Event Outdoor brought together stakeholders from design, science, and industry at the Alte Kühlhalle in Coburg. Through a curated program featuring a panel discussion, Pecha Kucha presentations, and a workshop café, the event fostered interdisciplinary exchange on sustainable material and product development as well as broader societal transformation. The event concluded the collaborative project dis_assemble between the Integrated Product Design program and VAUDE, highlighting the role of design as a driving force for circular and future-oriented design strategies.

I supported the successful application for funding by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the University of Coburg is working with orto and the digital agency LUCID to develop an educational platform.

The platform’s new features integrate the strengths of digital as-built analysis with on-site building assessment. The goal is to give construction professionals, educators, and students early insight into construction quality. Later the product was awarded the Ecodesign Award 2026.

Successfull application for funding by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space to develop transfer structures for sustainable and climate-responsive building as well as renovation strategies in existing buildings and heritage conservation processes. This project is a cooperation of the University of Coburg togther with the Universtity of Bamberg and the Chamber of Crafts of Upper Franconia. Knowledge from traditional craftsmanship regarding construction techniques, materials, and repair methods is being made usable for sustainable building practices. At the core of this approach is the bidirectional transfer of knowledge between craftsmanship, planning, and research.

The three-days-event offered a multifaceted program addressing topics such as the transformation of the building sector, circularity, energy efficiency in historic buildings, AI in design, and future skills for designers.

Held across the Design Campus of Coburg University of Applied Sciences and the former slaughterhouse site, the event brought together the various disciplines of the Faculty of Design and Building. From World Café sessions to real-world laboratories, discussions, lectures, and workshops fostered interdisciplinary exchange while making current research, teaching, and knowledge-transfer projects visible and tangible.

As a project manager, I supported the concept, organization and the acquisition of third-party funding for this symposium.

The specialist symposium at the Campus Design of Coburg University of Applied Sciences explored the role of scientifically grounded architecture in hospital construction. Under the academic leadership of Gemma Koppen, experts from both research and practice—including Herzog & de Meuron and White Arkitekter—engaged in in-depth discussions on various aspects of healing architecture.

As a project manager, I supported the organization and the acquisition of third-party funding for the research aspects of: Kleiner Wohnen - Cooperative Housing in Rural Areas.

New forms of housing built with sustainable construction materials are being developed on a brownfield site in Redwitz an der Rodach. The construction company Raab is initiating a cooperative that is scheduled to move into more than 20 residential units in 2029.

Coburg University of Applied Sciences provides scientific support for the project, analyzing both the construction using clay, hemp-lime, and timber-based building materials, as well as the development and establishment of the cooperative itself. The aim is to generate transferable knowledge and encourage replication of similar models.
